Ira Glass on the Creative Process
It’s comforting to know that at one time or another, all the artists, designers and musicians I thought held some miraculous & unreachable talent — started as amateurs. Their talent didn’t simply appear out of nowhere, it took years and years of hard work and failure until finally artists could create something they were happy with.
I love art, design and music, I try to get better with each project and yet it seems nothing I create is to a standard I’m genuinely pleased with. Each project seems unfinished, there was a deadline and I had to meet it. I think it’s sad how fast paced the world has become. Good ideas take time to reach their potential, whilst technology allows the process of creating to be both faster and easier, it can’t replace what time offers naturally.
